In fact, some of them might be scammers trying to infect your computer with a new virus dubbed “Koobface”. Koobface, which already made the rounds on MySpace, is now worming its way through Facebook. The Koobface virus uses Facebook’s private messaging system to infect computers via a shared video. Unsuspecting users will see a video link (shared by an infected friend) with the message, “You look just awesome in this new movie.” Click the link will lead you to an outside site where you’re told that you need to download a Flash update, which is actually a virus file. Once the virus is installed, it will try to grab sensitive data off your PC, like credit card numbers.

In a way this a very old virus; it operates much like mass-mailing worms that used to infest Usenet and e-mail lists. But it’s proving an effective tactic on social networks where private messages from friends seem more trustworthy than traditional e-mail, which even the most neophyte web users have come to distrust. With its some 120 million users, Facebook is not only a potentially lucrative target, but it’s well into the mainstream, which means more gullible, less internet-savvy users for virus creators to prey on. The virus watchdog blog for McAfee labs reports that Facebook is aware of the Koobface attack and is already working to remove the spammed links from its system. But with dozens of Koobface variants known to exist, McAfee warns that “the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better.” Should your PC be infected the Koobface worm, the Facebook security blog suggests resetting your password and running updated anti-virus software to purge the worm from your system.

This problem is generally caused by most of the viruses which infect windows XP system. Mostly virus infected via Pen Drive / USD Drive. They block or restrict your access to any of the drives.

And some time it block access to task maneger and you even cant access “Foleder Option” properly.

Here is Fix:

Normally when a virus infects a windows system which causes a drive opening problem, it automatically creates a file named autorun.inf in the root directory of each drive.

This autorun.inf file is a read only ,hidden and a system file and the folder option is also disabled by the virus. This is deliberately done by the virus in order to protect itself.  autorun.inf initiates all the activities that the virus performs when you try to open any drive.

You have to just delete this file and restart your system to correct this problem.

Follow the set of commands below to show and delete the autorun.inf

1. Open Start>>Run and type cmd and press enter. This will open a command prompt window. On this command prompt window type the following steps.

2. type cd\

3. type attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf

4. type del autorun.inf

5. now type d: and press enter for d: drive partition. Now repeat steps 3 and 4. Similarly repeat step 5 for all your hard disk partition.

Restart your system and your trouble will be fixed.

Download the ZIP and open it.  Extract the REG file to your hard disk and double click it.  Answer yes to the import prompt.  REG files can be viewed in Notepad.  Each of the REG files contains the default settings for the file extension indicated.  For the ZIP file fix, the download is a REG file, since ZIP’s aren’t working anyway!

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Released

Dell released Its low cost small sized laptop. Its intregated and smart looking. And we could expect a Fight with HP Mini-Note, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 and the Asus Eee PC.

Its Released on 4Th September, 2008.

Dell is now preparing to jump into the low-cost notebook market with its own creation called the Inspiron Mini 9, which looks to compete against a group of similar offerings from Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Asus and other PC vendors.

Dell officially released the Mini 9 notebook or “netbook” on Sept. 4, but the company had been talking about its offering for the low-cost laptop market since April. The debut of the Mini 9 follows Dell’s launch of 10 new notebooks in August for business and enterprise users.

Feature:

The Mini 9 will also use the Intel Atom N270 processor, which offers a 1.6GHz, 512KB of L2 cache and a 533MHz front side bus. Dell will also offer a 16GB solid state drive and the Mini 9 will offer up to 1GB of RAM.

The way Dell introduced the Inspiron Mini 9 was pretty inspired, so it’s almost been depressing watching the steady stream of leaks deflate it into a now familiar device, even though it’s only being released today. As leaked, inside is an Intel Atom Diamondville processor and it has a 1024×600 LED-backlit screen with 4, 8 and 16GB SSD options (plus you get 2GB free online storage at Box.Net) and about three hours of battery life. Only the Windows XP version is available now for $399, in black or white—the $349 Ubuntu flavor, along with the rest of the six-color rainbow are a few weeks away. Update: You can pick one up for $99 if you buy another Dell AND it has 3G hidden inside.

More About Price:

Dell doesn’t take its site down when it introduces product unlike some laptop peddlers. The result, however, is shots like this of early pre-release gear like the Inspiron Mini 9 netbook as Dell spins the product up for retail. $449 fully spec’d just like we heard with 8GB SSD, 1GB memory, Bluetooth 2.1, Windows XP, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. We still expect to see a lesser spec’d $349 model running Ubuntu. Shipping on the 16th of September in your choice of white or black though white will cost you a $25 premium. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Has Hidden Built-In 3G

When Michael Dell mentioned yesterday that he thinks telcos will subsidize netbooks to sell integrated 3G services, he wasn’t quite talking out of his ass—an unmentioned feature of the Inspiron Mini 9 is an integrated 3G card. The first carrier to sell the Mini with 3G is Vodafone in the UK. No carrier announcements in the US yet, but since it’s HSDPA (assumedly, because Vodafone UK is, and they aren’t letting you pick your 3G card) AT&T would pretty much be your only option here.
