This video walks you through pressure testing the cooling system on the gm luv, luj, and a14net 1.4l turbo engine. pressure testing helps find external leaks.

Not really on the sonic. the pump is separate from timing belt. my pump went at 80k and i did belt at 101k. the belt is so easy on this engine! i get it there are a few overlapping tasks, but not enough to justify replacing a pump after 20k miles again. i will say the cooling system just seems to be a weak point.
