By far we sell the #5 in larger numbers than the #5 1 2. if you need the wider iron width the 5 1 2 provides, that would be the major reason to consider it. it will be a bit more efficient per cutting stroke when working larger areas. due to covid 19, the manufacturing capacity of lie nielsen has been reduced significantly at this time. My advise is if you want a plane as a user, avoid the vintage in this model. that was my main reason for purchasing a lie nielsen #62.
