Coolant Issues Ford Power Stroke Nation I have a 96 f250 with the 7.3l diesel eng. i have had a terrible oil leak from my oil cooler so i drained the coolant out of the drivers side eng. block plug pulled the radiater hose from the engine inlet next to the front oil cooler mount area and drained as much coolant as would drain from the hose. Each time i've checked the coolant level and added coolant. it happen once while pulling a load and the second time with no load (stop and go driving). thanks for your help and suggestions. ford trucker for life. current truck: 2006 f550 4x4 cc dually 6.0l. third truck: 2004 f350 4x4 cc dually 6.0l. second truck: 1990 f350 4x4 srw 460ci.

Hey all, i drive a 95 7.3 powerstroke, f350 ambulance. 113,000 miles, automatic, dually. the rig has been my home for some years and have gone to hell and back with it. im currently driving across country and have started noticing a distinct smell of coolant in the cab while at opertating temps. Flush that ford gold coolant crap out of your engine with a 1 2 gallon of restore. this is made specifically to clean out that silicate residue, then a 1 2 gallon of restore this cuts the minerals on each one flush flush flush tell clean. now refill it with a silicate free cat ec 1 rated elc coolant. this removes the silicates that clog. Maybe there's a fan clutch issue. it was the coolant temp gauge (2nd to left upper smaller gauge cluster). once you get the coolant temp up to about 220* you get the digital display reading above the gauge (like what you can trigger on within forscan), but the number digitally comes up when hot as oem.
