Giving her shorter hair makes sense, and not just because of the helmet, but because samus doesn't seem to value vanity and would have no reason to have an added element that would get in her way if she has to fight out of her suit.

Giving Samus Some Love Super Smash Bros Wii U Mods Oh, agreed, it’s a million times better. she’s actually decently proportionate. i do wish she had a bit more muscle, as the official comic showed her training for years with the guidance of the chozo, but overall, this is my favorite design for samus by far. this is the samus i think of when playing the games. The suit design in the first game is less striking, but proportions work quite well there. even the morph ball makes sense as it's just samus curled up (arms around the knees) if you look closely. the game doesn't properly rotate (roll) the sprite though so it looks a bit odd (the nes can only mirror flip). Published jan 12, 2022. one of the first female protagonists in video game history, samus aran's first appearance in metroid was rather deceptive. the developers gave samus a suit that was more forward thinking, featuring a design that was gender neutral. so samus being revealed as a woman made for quite the twist ending on the nes at the time. I think it's fine for a one off special suit, like we got at the end of dread (even if that design wasn't great). but i wouldn't want samus's default suits to all look biological. give me an armored look, always. also, it truly is incredible how much of a glow up samus got between fusion and dread.
