Celebrating National Volunteers Week Meet Some Of The Incredible Meet ccq’s wonderful cancer support volunteer, pamela hinton! pamela is a hospital based volunteer and each week gives her time to visit cancer patients undergoing treatment at the royal. Our patient and family advisory council. simmons’ patient and family advisory council was created and developed with generous support from kim and jeff chapman to address the wide ranging needs of patients and their caregivers. members of the council meet regularly to share their views on all aspects of the cancer journey. Once recovered, pamela had six months of chemotherapy followed by six weeks of radiation.after treatment, she got involved with pancan. she shared her story at pancan purplestride los angeles 2013, and she attended pancan’s advocacy event in washington, d.c., to urge congress to make pancreatic cancer research funding a priority. This includes, but is not limited to, training about the organisation, expectations of a volunteer and work health and safety awareness. all volunteers within cancer council nsw have a staff member who they can go to for help and support. in many roles, more experienced volunteers will also be on hand to offer advice to new members of the team. 5.
