Sketch out the branches with umber paint using a popsicle stick. fill in your branches by pouring the paint along the lines that you sketched out. pull out some thinner branches from your thicker branches. i pulled some of my background colors into the branches for texture, totally optional. Don’t overthink it, and just enjoy dabbing away. this was my most favorite part of the painting i totally lost track of time and was absorbed into the creative flow of the cherry blossoms. enjoyable and meditative. cherry blossom paint colors. the blossoms on the cherry blossom tree use only 3 colors: red, white and brown. Keep a variety of lights and darks all throughout the canvas. allow your background to dry before continuing onto the next step. 2. paint the tree branches. use a #8 round brush and the colors: burnt umber and mars black. add water to your brush and distribute it into the brown and black (to thin it down a bit).
